FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Join Canticum Novum in their fourteenth season, as they perform free concerts throughout Wisconsin.
Waukesha, WIS., MAY 2019 – Canticum Novum, a chamber choir made up of members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, is presenting sacred concerts June 20-23 throughout Eastern Wisconsin. This season, concerts will be held in Milwaukee, Hartford, and Howards Grove, with an additional opportunity to worship in Waukesha alongside many other Christians and the ensemble.
Canticum Novum is dedicated to performing challenging choral music for the purpose of the spiritual edification of listeners, and encouragement for choristers of all ages to use their talents at the highest possible level. This group is unique in that it’s members, from all over the Midwest, meet as an ensemble for one week in the year at a retreat with intensive rehearsals, fellowship, and performances, after rehearsing independently in the weeks and months leading up to the week-long retreat.
This summer’s program, entitled “Blessed,” focuses on the many blessings our Lord promises and has given, while also offering songs of thanksgiving and praise. Patrick Hawes’ serene Beatitudes anchors a program that includes music by Carol Barnett, Stephen Paulus, Dan Forrest, and Stacy V. Gibbs. Entering their fourteenth season, Canticum Novum has performed at various churches throughout the Midwest, and was a featured ensemble at the WELS National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts in 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2017.
Concerts are free to the public. Annual auditions are held to fill choir openings when they come available. For more information, visit www.canticumnovumwels.org, or become a fan of the Canticum Novum: A WELS Chamber Choir Facebook page to learn more information.
