FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAY 2021 THE BREATH OF LIFE Join Canticum Novum for a free concert on June 26, 2021. Mequon, WIS., MAY 2021 – Canticum Novum, a chamber choir made up of members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, is presenting a free concert on June 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Auditorium in Mequon, Wisconsin. You can attend this concert in-person (no tickets necessary) or stream it live from our website, canticumnovumwels.org. Canticum Novum is a chamber choir that strives for excellence in proclaiming the name of Christ through the choral art and, through the work of the gospel, seeks to spur God’s people on toward excellence in their own musicianship. This group is unique in that it’s members, from all over the Midwest, meet as an ensemble for one week in the year at a retreat with intensive rehearsals, fellowship, and performances, after rehearsing independently in the weeks and months leading up to the week-long retreat. Dan Forrest’s introspective new work for chorus and chamber orchestra, the breath of life, anchors a program that also includes pieces specifically chosen for Canticum Novum to record for the upcoming WELS Hymnal Week. Entering their sixteenth season, Canticum Novum has performed at various churches throughout the Midwest and was a featured ensemble at the WELS National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts in 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2017. Concerts are free to the public. Annual auditions are held to fill choir openings when they come available.
