FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ON MY JOURNEY HOME
Join Canticum Novum in their thirteenth season, as they perform free concerts throughout Wisconsin.
Waukesha, WIS., MAY 2018 – Canticum Novum, a chamber choir made up of members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, is presenting sacred concerts June 21-24 throughout Eastern Wisconsin. The concerts will be at various churches lining the stunning Lake Michigan shoreline.
Canticum Novum is dedicated to performing challenging choral music for the purpose of the spiritual edification of listeners, and encouragement for choristers of all ages to use their talents at the highest possible level. This group is unique in that it’s members, from all over the Midwest, meet as an ensemble for one week in the year at a retreat with intensive rehearsals, fellowship, and performances, after rehearsing independently in the weeks and months leading up to the week-long retreat.
This year’s program is entitled “On My Journey Home” and will feature music by Runestad, McDermid, Mendelssohn, and many other highly respected composers. The concert is thematically centered on the spiritual journey that ultimately ends with the gift of eternal life in heaven, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Entering their thirteenth season, Canticum Novum has performed at various churches throughout the Midwest, and was a featured ensemble at the WELS National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts in 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2017.
Concerts are free to the public. Annual auditions are held to fill choir openings when they come available. For more information, visit www.canticumnovumwels.org, or become a fan of the Canticum Novum: A WELS Chamber Choir Facebook page to learn more information.
